Great Sister City Accomplishments

The Sun-Sentinel printed several blurps on what South Florida Sister City organizations are doing for their worldwide sister cities.

From our own Sister City organization came this news:

Lauderhill Sister Cities collects books for Haiti

Djenane Gourgue came to the United States from PĂ©tionville, Haiti in 1989. But the school she attended and much of the city she left behind are no longer there. “My school was wiped out,” Gourgue said. The school may be gone but its students still need to learn. To help students in PĂ©tionville continue their education, Lauderhill Sister Cities International is organizing a book drive. Gourgue, vice president of Lauderhill Sister Cities, came up with the idea. Books, she said, are not something students in Haiti can take for granted.
